In response to the 2011 Oregon Legislature enacting SB 253 and SB 909:
The Oregon School Counselor Association and the Oregon Association of School Counselor Educators assert that in order to accomplish this goal, the 2013 legislature needs to appropriate annual targeted funding in the amount of $50,000,000 to add 1000 additional school counselors to Oregon’s current force of 1140 school counselors and also provide the infrastructure support for ensuring that all Oregon School Counselors are more well-prepared for the following roles and functions.

    Candidate Statements:

    President Elect:

Lucia Meza: My desire to be considered for the President-Elect position comes from wanting to continue working with School Counselors from all over Oregon to advocate and collaborate on important issues affecting our profession.  During this past year I’ve served as Middle School VP, and I have truly enjoyed getting to know so many outstanding School Counselors in the field.  I feel that the work OSCA has been doing is very valuable for our profession, and I’d like to continue that work.

    Treasurer:

Debi Meier:  It has been an honor to serve as your OSCA Treasurer over the past year.  I would be honored to continue to serve as Treasurer through the next term.  I’ve been a high school counselor for the past 14 years, a member of OSCA for 16 years.  My time serving on the Governing Board has been the most amazing experience I’ve had since joining.  I’m dedicated to advocacy for school counselors and serving on the Board has given me that chance I’d been seeking to participate in a positive way.  I applaud your membership and would greatly appreciate your vote.

    Middle Level VP:

There are no candidates for this position.  You will have an opportunity to write in a candidate on the ballot.
