Last Wednesday at a staff meeting at Roosevelt Middle School in Eugene Fran Calciano was awarded School Counselor of the Year for 2012-2013. Fran has worked as a school counselor for 25 years. She is a powerhouse who with her calm and gentle demeanor, connects with students, staff and parents alike.  In the hectic pace of a middle school Fran's office offer respite for kids to share a daily check-in or ask for support for the difficulties they may be facing.

Fran also runs a lunchtime mentor program that connect college-age and older mentors with at-risk youth.  She also runs the WEB (We All Belong) that connect incoming 6th graders with 8th graders who help them to feel connected and supported as the start their middle school years.

OSCA congratulates Fran Calciano as the Oregon School Counselor of the Year!
